Prof. Dr. Dogan Aydal
Prof. Dr. Dogan Aydal graduated from Hacettepe University (Ankara, Turkey) in 1976 with a degree in Mining Geology Engineering. He completed his English language education at International House, Hastings, and received his Master’s and PhD from the University of Leeds, United Kingdom (1976–1980).
After working at the General Directorate of Mineral Research and Exploration (MTA) in Turkey, he began his academic career at Ankara University in 1982 and became an Associate Professor in 1991. In 1994, he conducted research as a visiting scholar at the University of Cincinnati, USA. He retired from the Faculty of Engineering at Ankara University on 23 September 2020.
Prof. Aydal is an expert in mining, energy policies, remote sensing, and geographic information systems. He has held senior roles including Deputy Undersecretary to the Prime Ministry of Turkey, Prime Ministerial Advisor, Board Member at Sumer Holding, and Director of the Centre for African Studies.
He has conducted research and scientific fieldwork in 72 countries across America, Africa, Europe, and Asia. He is the author of 21 books such as Wars for Minerals, A World Without Oil, Blood-Stained Energy, and Traps of War — many of which have been widely featured in Turkish media.
He has run as a parliamentary and mayoral candidate in Turkey. He currently serves as Deputy Chairman of the New Welfare Party (Yeniden Refah Partisi), responsible for Research & Development, and is Vice President to the Party Leader.
