The ideal of becoming the undisputed leader of the 21st century was a goal the USA had conceived since the early 20th century. The religious foundations of this ambition date back even further.

Like the Jews, American Puritans believed they were “chosen”. The Puritans had already recognised and internalised the parallels between their migration to America and the ancient Jewish exodus from Egypt to the Promised Land, as described in the Torah.

Their economic, military and political support came later. While the American academia and intelligence agencies formulated their strategic plans, these were disseminated and accepted within the USA and globally through the media and propaganda channels.

Various figures and nicknames from American cultural history became symbolic representatives of this process. American cinema, the entertainment industry, and American brands became emblems of America prominently displayed within households.

Whilst democracy became America’s hallmark of hegemony, coups transformed into tacitly accepted agreements supporting it.

Author Metin Boşnak, who conducts scholarly research on various aspects of comparative literature and American studies, examines the methods of global powers from a previously unseen perspective in his book Mc Government Mc Coups.
